Dream Pod 9 (DP9) is a Montreal-based entertainment properties design and publishing studio. In addition to publishing games based on our creations, we also work on a large number of special projects, creating worlds and stories to order for a variety of clients. The company is best known for the Heavy Gear, Jovian Chronicles, Tribe 8 and Gear Krieg universes, which have generated many games, models and miniatures. The company can call upon the talents of a well-rounded team of more than 50 writers, artists, graphic designers and modelers. DP9 is a virtual hive of activities. The staff continually creates game books and support items, adding to the extensive backgrounds already created for the company's exciting main product lines. With Heavy Gear, DP9 has designed a grandiose science fiction universe to explore -- there are more than sixty sourcebooks and game aids already out, all filled with exciting information about the Heavy Gear world and the people that live in it. Jovian Chronicles follows the exploration of our solar system in the 23rd century, while Tribe 8 is a tribal, post-apocalyptic game of horror and epic adventures. The latest release, Gear Krieg, is an alternate reality World War II firmly set in the pulp genre. All are very different from one another, but equally fascinating. Not content to let our creation lie on flat paper, DP9 also give them life in three dimensions with a line of finely crafted game miniatures. They are truly beautiful playing pieces to enjoy, whether to game with, to paint or just to collect. You can admire some of them in our Heavy Gear, Jovian Chronicles, and Gear Krieg Miniature Galleries. The company is also telling its stories through the media of computer games, which opens the door to tons of exciting new possibilities. The partnership with computer game giant Activision has already yielded two best-selling games. Both Heavy Gear: the New Breed, and its advanced sequel, Heavy Gear II: Black Talon, took the computer game world by storm! In late 1999, Dream Pod 9 licensed the worldwide television rights to its popular Heavy Gear game universe to Sony Pictures Family Entertainment. The 40-episode computer animated series debuted in syndication across the world in Spring 2001, and has begun showing in the United States as of Fall 2001. In conjunction with SPFE, SPCP will translate Heavy Gear's gritty science fiction world into a wide variety of merchandizing, including: apparel, publishing, electronics, back-to-school, collectibles, food, toys, and gifts and novelties. In addition to its publishing side, Dream Pod 9 is fully established as a design studio. The staff works on special projects from time to time, creating worlds and backgrounds to order for a large variety of clients. The DP9 people have the skills and people to create everything from basic ideas to production concepts, right through prototype models if needed. |
