Silhouette Live-Action Rules

Profile, currently in version 2.0, is a free live-action conversion of the basic Silhouette game rules that are used in all of Dream Pod 9 game. The ruleset is the creation of John Buckmaster and the rest of the Saskatchewan Pod Corps chapter. They've been using it extensively at local conventions, and now feel that things are as good as they're going to get without more widespread playtesting.

Here are some guidelines for anyone willing to serve as playtester. In addition to the Profile rules (see further down), you will also need a copy of the basic roleplaying rulebook of the line you want to play with.

  • All comments should be sent to saskdemoteam@yahoo.ca with the subject "Profile Playtest";
  • John will accept comments without playtest data, but actual playtest results will be given more credence;
  • All playtesters will be given credit, most likely using group names. John will need the first and last name of everyone involved in your playtest group, as well as the "group name," and an e-mail address where he can reach a spokesman for your group;
  • Anything that makes its way into the rules will be credited, though any ideas submitted become John's property for the purposes of the text's copyright. All ideas submitted become John's to use/change/ignore as he sees fit. Also, adjustments will be attributed on a "first come, first served" basis (just because you submitted an idea does not mean someone else didn't first);
  • All comments should be explained if possible. John does, however, understand that sometimes rules "just don't feel right," but please try to give as much info as possible.
  • There's a small error in one example: Page 2, Retests. In the example, Barb should lose to Jim, not the other way around.
