Its Thursday and The Pod Chatter is usually up by now, but there has been so much news being announced by the Pod this week that I had to move it back a day. Without any further ado, here is this weeks Pod Chatter.

Last week we looked at some of the books needed to play your chosen faction. This week we will continue our look at the books needed to play the remaining factions: Caprice, Utopia, Eden, and the Black Talons.

The first army we will look at is Caprice, and it couldn't come at a better time. The new Caprice Task Force box deal is freshly released and available over at the Dream Pod 9 Online Store. The Task Force box allows you to assemble around a 610 Threat Value army without any upgrades or special additions to the army. More good news is that you can upgrade some of the cadres and end up with a pure Caprician force of around 1000 Threat Value. If you are feeling really adventurous you can add in some Black Talon allies or CEF allies to increase that threat value even higher. If you pick up the Caprice Task Force all the necessary books are provided for you, but if you are looking into picking just the books up you will need two and the optional Gear Up 5.

  1. Return to Cat's Eye: This book contains the fluff and the army list for your faction.
  2. Field Manual: This book contains all the rules to play Heavy Gear Blitz in its current form.
  3. Gear Up 5: The Gear Up emagazines are free to download and contain fluff, rules, and beta tests for certain things. While this is not required to play I included this in the list because the Gear Up 5 TV adjustments make a world of difference when playing against factions that already have their Field Guides out.

Another confession to make here on The Pod Chatter, I have not played with or against any Utopian forces. That being said I would love to take some on at GenCon 2013 if anyone can catch up with me there. The idea of a swarming drone army has always intrigued me though, so perhaps I will have to pick up the starter box and try them out. As with all the Army Starters or Task Force all the necessary material needed to play comes with your chosen army box, but if you are interested in catching up on the Utopian Faction you will need the follow books:

  1. Terra Nova Gambit - The War for Terra Nova Book 2: This book contains all the fluff you need to field the Utopian faction.

Eden, while you can not currently field a full Eden Army you can supplement your CEF with Eden allies. I'm not going to go into any detail at all on Eden as all the fluff and rules can be found in the following books:

  1. Shattered Peace - The War for Terra Nova Book 1: This book contains all the fluff and rules needed to supplement your force with Eden allies.

The elite Black Talons. The supermen of Terra Nova. The Black Talons are Terra Novas answer to the marauding CEF forces. They are the poster children for the Terra Nova war against Earth. How could anyone not take up with the Black Talons cause? Well I for one as a newly purchased CEF general seek to crush the Black Talons under my many hover tanks and FLAILS. Muwhaha! But I can understand the allure of the stealthy faction, so if you too want to dominate the battlefield you'll need the following books:

All of the books listed above are available over at the Dream Pod 9 Online Store in book form or over at DriveThru RPG in ebook form. I personally recommend picking up all the books so you will know what you are facing when you stare at your opponents forces before the battle.

The Pod Chatter this week is going to be longer than normal, but for good reason. Remember all the announcements I talked about at the beginning, well I am going to recap them all here so you won't have to dig around trying to find them all.

  1. The biggest announcement this week has to be the Updated Southern Field Guide: Forged in Fire. We here at the Pod strive to put out the best product we can for all of our fans and customers. We also love to here your feedback and like to put it into immediate action. So, after a short two weeks we went back and retooled the Field Guide to make it a more enjoyable digital read and corrected some of those pesky issues that can pop up when you are writing such a massive tomb of material. If you have already received you ebook copy of Forged in Fire you can find the updated version available for download over at DriveThru RPG If you have been waiting to see what everyone else has to say about, I can tell you one thing; now is the time to pick up your copy of the ebook. In addition to the update digital copy we have sent the book off to be printed, so keep checking here for the official date for the printed copy, you won't want to miss it.
  2. By now assuming you have read the above, you are probably aware that Caprice has received it's own Task Force deal and it could not come at a better time. We have extended the Task Force deals, Armor deals, Nu Coal bundles, and Southern bundles so you can have a New Army for the New Year! Not to mention we are also going to throw in $5 worth of your choice of gifts for every full $50 you spend at the Online Store. That means you can pick up a Caprice Task Force for $194.95 along with some bits to round you up to $200 and you can choose $20 worth of gifts, not a bad way to start out 2013 if I do say so myself.
  3. Most of you by now have also seen or heard that we are discontinuing selling Jovian Chronicles miniatures on February 8th 2013 and retiring the molds for an indefinite period of time. While this strikes most of you with sadness there is some good news. Everything, to include the Jovian Chronicles miniatures, is part of our $50 for $5 deal over at our online store So if you have been needing an excuse to pick up these miniatures the time is now.
  4.  The last two items on the announcement list are pretty exciting, I think they might be more exciting then the rest of the list, although I am once again biased. Over on our Facebook page we are continuously striving to produce and show off some of the newest content, so get over there and like us on Facebook. When our Facebook page hits 2,500 likes we will be running a contest to win some loot, that's all I can say for now, you will just have to get over there and find out more.
  5. The last announcement is... Another blog! I don't know about you, but I love to have something to read all the time and everywhere. Starting tomorrow I will be introducing you to the Pod Squad Spotlight. This blog will contain interviews with our wonderful volunteer Pod Squad members, pictures, and tons more Heavy Gear goodness! Like I said in the last Pod Chatter, see if you can guess who our first great Volunteer I interview. Here's this weeks hint: Sin City.

That's all for now! Join us over on Facebook or the Forums and don't forget to send me pictures of your miniatures griff.briggs [at] dp9.com Happy Gaming!
