Spitfire Fighter

Kit #4801
DB605 Engine Conversion Kit
for Spitfire Fighter

In the PackagingBuilt from a Spitfire Mk Vb airframe captured in November 1942, this curious aircraft was used by Daimler Benz to demonstrate the superior qualities of German engines. The Spitfire, airframe EN830 with CJ+ZY markings, was powered by a DB 605 engine covered with a modified ME110 engine bonnet. The test program of this aircraft was to set the record straight concerning the so-called superiority of British motor technology. The plane flew several times but was later destroyed in an american bombing raid.

This conversion set includes 12 parts and a decal sheet. Some cutting and assembly is required, but comprehensive, well illustrated instructions and painting guide are included to leave no guess work to the modeler. A lot of effort was put into the developpement of this kit to make it as easy to build and accurate as possible. A 1/48 Tamiya Spitfire V kit is required for this conversion (sold separately).
