When you join the Northern Guard, you are supposed to go beyond your allegiance to any League. You're taking up the duty of protecting the entire Confederated Northern City States and it's interests in the badlands.

Northern Guard: The Unified Northern Military

I joined up with the Northern Guard back in TN 1916. We fought the CEF off then, and I happily retired- Married my old sweetheart, got a job working for an aftermarket Gear parts company here in Rapid City, settled down. The Terra Novan Dream, really.  Now it's 26 cycles later and the CEF are back again. Now I've got my kids and and my husband to protect, so I'm here to reenlist. I don't care if they want me as a Lieutenant in a Gear regiment or a private in the infantry. I'm here to say, "Never again!" to the CEF's reign of terror from the last war.

The Northern Guard is the Confederated Northern City State's (CNCS) combined military force created to act as a counter to southern aggression. The War of the Alliance, Interpolar War, and the War for Terra Nova have all proven the North's need for a unified military command. In times of need, the Northern Guard assumes command of military units from the leagues that make up the Northern superpower.  In times of crisis, the Northern Guard has the authority to take command of units from the member Leagues. The Northern Guard has access to nearly all Northern vehicle designs.

The Northern Guard is the standard Northern army, and it's greatest strength is the force's flexibility. 

Northern Guard forces an use nearly every Northern vehicle, The ability to recruit forces from Member States provides an opportunity to 'recruit' squads with different paint jobs from the main force including special units like Chaplains from the Northern Lights Confederacy.
